"Beyond Bars" Prison Program - Reflection from Sammi Accola
The first time I witnessed the Cultural Arts Alliance’s Beyond Bars songwriting program was at a concert in January 2025. What I experienced was incomparable joy, a new depth of sadness, and a hope so big it filled my chest—rooting for men I had barely met. Learning from Caitlin Cannon and watching the transformative power of songwriting unfold inside those walls changed how I see music, and humanity, forever.
