MONARCH ART TRAIL
The Watersound® Monarch Art Trail (MAT) is an outdoor sculpture project created by the CAA with support from The St. Joe Community Foundation. The MAT includes eight original sculptures designed specifically for installation along South Watersound Parkway’s existing mile-long walking and bike path that connects Highways 98 and 30A. Use of the area was made possible by The St. Joe Company. The sculptures are complemented with seating, lighting, signage, and native landscape. Trail visitors are encouraged to take a self-guided tour by selecting a sculpture by number from the map below for insight into the artists’ creative process as well as information about the surrounding environment through audio recordings.
The eight artists selected for the project are Jeffie Brewer (Douglas, AL) Tetelestai; Jonathan Burger (New Bern, NC), Kaleidoscope; Grace Cathey (Waynesville, NC) The Grandchildren Return; Peter Hazel (Reno, NV) Dancing Monarchs; Rachel Herring (Santa Rosa Beach, FL) The Golden Flight; Anthony Heinz May (Oregan) Roost and Puddle; Mark Metz (San Pablo, CA) The Milkweed; and Andrew Hamilton Reiss (Redding, CT) Friend of Mine.
