Art in Motion. A former NYC fashion executive and now painter looking for the unexpected in life, art and fashion. My work is inspired by and dedicated to capturing that moment in time in which motion is suspended and beauty and grit and a sense of style emerge. My training in drawing and painting began during my undergraduate studies, in which I focused on fashion and textile design. I continued with my art while working in the fashion world in New York and as a costume designer in the movie industry. My experience in both of these areas helped reinforce my training in color, design, patterns, and draftsmanship. Beginning in 2007, I began to focus on more conceptual and formal matters in my work. In this endeavor, I have been fortunate to study and apprentice with three painters who are professors at Florida State, particularly with Judy Rushin. The Fresh Eyes, Horse/Man, Fashion Framed and Skin Dipping series on my website are the product of this more recent turn in my art.
