Join us Wednesday, July 1st at 9am for a virtual Art on Demand event brought to you by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County in partnership with Alys Beach and 30a.com.
Learn how to make beautifully decorated sugar cookies like a pro! In this episode, Renee McCalmont will skillfully walk you through the process of making royal icing and finding the correct consistency for your project, how to “flood” a cookie using two different techniques (tip and tipless) and demonstrate how to assemble the bag with a coupler and tip. The end result will be a beautifully decorated sugar cookie that will look great and taste even better! Happy decorating!!
The event will be viewable on 30A, Alys Beach and Cultural Arts Alliance’s Facebook pages as well as available on the CAA’s YouTube channel following the broadcast.
Recipes & Supplies Needed:
Renee’s favorite Sugar Cookie recipe:
Any recipe will work. I love this one because one, it tastes great and two, you don’t have to chill the dough. No chilling means you can go straight to rolling out – game changer!!
Royal Icing recipe used:
There are a lot of Royal Icing recipes out there. Try a bunch and find your favorite. When I first started I used Wilton’s Royal Icing mix – It’s a great first start – no shame using a mix!
Cookie cutters – any you want! We use a heart, star, oval (or Easter egg), circle and an ice pop
Couplers and Disposable piping bag or seamless disposable piping bag (we demonstrate both techniques)
Scribe or toothpick
Gel food coloring
