Gayle Campbell

saving_for_a_rainy_day.jpg

Florida native Gayle Campbell was initially drawn to bead weaving and bead embroidery by the intricacy and beauty of the completed jewelry. Her original designs have won multiple awards and she was featured in Emerald Coast Magazine as one of “7 Emerald Coast Artists You Need to Know”.

These one-of-a-kind creations, where each individual bead is picked up by a super fine needle and woven into a tapestry of dimension and color, are often mistaken for cloth. The tiny glass beads require the use of magnification to accomplish the weaving process. An individual statement piece can encompass hundreds of painstaking hours. When asked, “Did you make the beads?” you may hear her respond, “My beads are my paint and my needles, my brushes. Do you ask a painter if they made their paint?”

You are encouraged to handle her works and try them on. It isn’t often you have the opportunity to “Wear Art”.
