Masha Edmond
Masha was born and grew up in the beautiful country of Moldova, located in Eastern Europe. As is customary for many artists, as a child she always scribbled, drew and painted, including in her textbooks. After regular school classes, she would attend the Alexei Sciusev Art School, located in one the old Victorian houses in the city center, where the main focus was on classical drawing and painting techniques.
In high school, Masha and her family moved to the US, and ended up in Los Angeles. During that time, she was awarded the Ryman Arts scholarship, and completed their 2 year program for young artists, which was held at the University of Southern California campus.
Shortly after, her desire to see the world and travel translated into joining the US Army. Her first duty station was in Washington state, and gave her the opportunity to enjoy Seattle’s diverse art scene. Here she continued to try different art techniques and refine her style.
A couple of years later, Masha got the assignment of a lifetime, and got stationed at a small military base in Tuscany, Italy. Among the ancient ruins and a rich cultural heritage, she discovered a renewed sense of passion for her craft. The museums in Rome, Florence and Milan brought all the photos from the history books to life.
She took art classes that were available on base and checked out all the art books she could find at the local library. During that time she completed her first commissions as well. One of her happiest moments was when her painting of the Duomo in Florence was hung to be permanently displayed at the library on base.
Upon completing her military service, Masha embarked on a new mission: to pursue her passion for medicine, as a pharmacist. Enrolling in pharmacy school, she balanced the rigorous academics with her unwavering interest in art, finding inspiration in the symbiotic relationship between science and creativity. After pharmacy school, life brought her to the Emerald Coast of Florida. She has been living here for the past 6 years, in love with the white sandy beaches and the turquoise water.
Today, Masha continues on her creative path, drawing inspiration from her travels, cultural experiences, and the world around her.
