- Renee Cohn
VIEW GALLERY ART Renee Cohn I am an Atlanta based mixed media artist, and my artistic journey has taken various twists and turns. I put my passion for creating on the back burner while attending law school and then while practicing law, but I continued to daydream of being an artist (and to fill legal notepads with doodles and artistic business ideas). When my daughter was born, I was inspired to leave the practice of law and create an original line of hand dyed children's clothing with hand-painted appliques. I later dabbled in painting wall murals, making jewelry, and creating event decor, but creating mixed media works on wood and canvas is my true passion. After many years of art classes and workshops and also trial and error, I have developed a unique style of representing contrasting elements that is harmonious and balanced. My goal in my work is to create a sense of familiarity but also curiosity. I often combine opposites in my paintings, which suits my yin and yang idea of our existence here: our universe consists of opposite but inseparable and interconnected forces. I am intrigued by both the bold and the subtle, the perfect and the imperfect, and the realistic and the abstract. My technique includes original collage materials, acrylic markers and paint, ink, pastels, and pencil to create a sense of wholeness made from many parts. My style incudes both loose movement and more defined designs, such as botanicals, animals, human figures, and coastal landscapes inspired by my favorite beaches on 30A in the Florida panhandle. Many of my floral designs are taken from my own original floral arrangements or the greenery and blooms in my backyard. I spent my formative years on Signal Mountain in Chattanooga, TN, and have created landscape pieces depicting the scenic mountains and the Tennessee river that runs through them. I attended college and law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and consider myself a Tar Heel for life. I currently live with my husband in Atlanta, GA and have a grown daughter bravely carving her path in New York City. https://www.reneescohn.com/

- William Polley
William Polley William Polley has traveled in a huge circle to be able to retire and paint full-time. An incessant doodler as a child, I became a self-taught artist with my first medium being charcoal. I started painting seriously in high school with acrylics and was selected as art director for my high school yearbook and other school projects. In pursuit of my passion for art, I graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Commercial Design and Artistic Painting. I joined The Marine Corps as an officer and a fighter pilot trained in the F-4 Phantom. During those six years I was an instructor in the Naval Training Command and also produced pilot training films for the Naval Photographic Center. After serving my country I continued in the art field as Art Director for the city of Memphis Tourism and Economic Councils. For the next twenty five years I was a pilot for Federal Express, often traveling to regions that inspired my artistic talent. When I wasn’t flying I was painting and decorating my home and those of friends and family. The main reason I moved to Walton County is because of the beautiful scenery of the Emerald Coast. I have had the good fortune to be selected as cover artist for “The Beachcomber” newspaper five different times. I have gone full circle from artist to pilot and back to artist. With reflection, art has never left my eyes. Many of my oil paintings are on display at G & Company Art Gallery (formerly Geana’s Art Gallery). BACK TO EXHIBIT Button Button Button Button

- Theresia McInnis
VIEW GALLERY ART Theresia McInnis “Magic”, That’s what I felt when I splashed watercolors onto a crisp white sheet of cotton rag and watched them flow, mingle, blend, and settle into patterns on the page. They took on a life of their own and were pure excitement to me; I knew I’d found the medium that stirred alive the magic in me. I still paint in oils as well, but now they are influenced by my affair with watercolor! I’ve been told that I “stir emotions with paint!” My pieces blur the boundaries between photo realism and impressionism. My pieces have been claimed by collectors right off the easel internationally as well as here in the U.S. pieces that will help you to showcase your values and creative living style; pieces which visually magnify the tapestry of emotional experiences under the surface of the ordinary. Represented at: Artful Things Niceville Gallery, & personal studio “Chanson d`Amore” at 86 Sunset Ave, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida Hours by appointment 850-582-5069. https://www.theresiamcinnis.com/

- Con-scious Expressions: An Insider’s Perspective Exhibit
Through a new partnership with Restorative Justice volunteers Libby Fisher and Erica Averion and the Walton Correctional Institution (WCI), the CAA is proud to introduce a very special exhibition titled “Con-scious Expressions: An Inside Perspective” featuring original work created by residents of three dorms within WCI. The title of the exhibit was submitted by WCI resident Michael George who states, “I chose this title because I truly believe that our prisons house many talented men and women. However, most of the media coverage of prisons and prisoners will never show that. Many of us are just broken individuals who made a poor choice in a moment of weakness. Our art creations are conscious expressions of our joy, pain, despair, and hope. The exhibit will hopefully give those who see it a glimpse of our humanity as well as an appreciation of our creativity.” “This art exhibit was born organically from friendships among South Walton women. CAA Executive Director Jennifer Steele mentioned to CAA board member Mimi Gavigan her goal to create a jail/prison art outreach program,” said Restorative Justice volunteer Libby Fisher. “Mimi knew of the volunteer work that Erica and I were doing, and so we met, brainstormed and developed the idea of the art exhibit. The administration at Walton Correctional Institute – the Florida state prison in DeFuniak Springs – was enthusiastic and supportive. We hope to show the public the talent and humanity of people in prison.” The exhibit can be viewed in Emerald Coast Theatre Company’s lobby October 6th through December 20th and on the CAA’s website beginning October 22nd through Spring 2021.
