  • Natalie Maxted | Cultural Arts Alliance

Natalie Maxted is a British/Finnish artist. Having lived in several countries—Colombia, Norway, Malaysia, Finland, Scotland, Italy, France and England—she has recently moved to the USA. She has an undergraduate degree from The University of St Andrews and a M.A. from The University of Warwick in The History and Business of Art and Collecting. After working within the London art world at the auction house Christie’s and at various London art businesses, Natalie decided to work as a full-time visual artist. She focuses on acrylic portrait painting in the digital age. Today, images are edited, over-processed with high saturation, blasted with extreme contrasts or filters. But these images still often contain the raw human expression reflecting a particular mood, moment, or emotion unique to that moment. Natalie’s art mimics today’s image processing culture, but instead of using digital tools to accentuate every pixel, she uses traditional hand painting to strip away distracting details, letting the subject’s emotion define the aesthetic. • CARLIE TROSCLAIR | CAA Walton County FL

< Back To Artists Page CARLIE TROSCLAIR New Orleans, LA BIO Carlie Trosclair was raised in New Orleans as the daughter of an electrician, spending her formative years in historic residential properties at varying stages of construction and renovation. Reflectively, her work explores the genealogy of home by using latex as an architectural skin to create sculptural installations that highlight the structural and decorative shifts evolving over a building's lifespan. Trosclair earned an MFA from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, and a BFA from Loyola University New Orleans. She is an alumna of the Community Arts Training Institute in St. Louis and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Select artist residencies include: the Tides Institute & Museum of Art, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Joan Mitchell Center, Loghaven Artist Residency, Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists' Residency (MI), Vermont Studio Center, and The Luminary Center for the Arts. Trosclair's work has been featured in Art in America, The New York Times, ArtFile Magazine, and Temporary Art Review, among others. She is the recipient of the Riverfront Times' Mastermind Award, the Creative Stimulus Award, Regional Arts Commission Artist Fellowship, and the Great Rivers Biennial Award. Upcoming appointments for Trosclair include artist residencies at the McColl Center in North Carolina, the Santa Fe Art Institute in New Mexico, and Sculpture Space in Utica, N.Y. This fall, she will have her first solo exhibition in New York at the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn. ARTIST STATEMENT Approached through a lens of reordering and discovery, my work explores the liminal space between development and deconstruction, contemplating the living and transitional components of home. Growing up in New Orleans as the daughter of an electrician, I spent my formative years in historic residential properties at varying stages of construction and renovation. I found that even when abandoned, the presence of the body still lingers. Architectural components carry with them the layered histories of previous residents. These become the shells we leave behind: relics of habitation and home-making. Using latex as an architectural skin, I both record and reimagine the genealogy of home and its relationship to the natural world. From the palimpsest of paint, disintegration of wood, or footprint of rust, these surfaces are connected in the ways they mark time. Echoes of the familiar are absorbed into the membrane of each latex body, crystallizing textures, and detritus of place. Paper-thin casts reshape the narrative of home as a sturdy secure space into one that is vulnerable and ephemeral. These ghostlike imprints mark an in-between space that is transient and ever changing both structurally and in our memory.

  • Anita Vasquez

VIEW GALLERY ART Anita Vasquez I have always been fascinated by glass. Church windows, vases, pottery glazes….anything with color and light has attracted me. I was a potter for many years and loved working with glazes and the kiln. Once I was exposed to fused glass though, something clicked for me and I had to know how to make it. I took my first class and was hooked. Since then, I have spent years making different kinds of things and always challenging myself. I’ve made dishes, pendant lights for homes and many decorative items. I have a studio in Fort Walton Beach where I teach classes along with my partner, Roseann Painter. As an artist I continue to love learning new techniques. One of my favorite sayings is from Eleanor Roosevelt; Do one thing everyday that scares you. Anytime I load the kiln, I try something new. I have been blessed to take classes from some experts who have helped me tremendously. I focus mainly on nature themes…the beach, butterflies and flowers. My husband who is an amazing carpenter helps me bring my visions to completion. https://www.paradiseglassworks.com/

  • Melody Bogle

Melody Bogle As a resident of South Walton Melody D. Bogle finds inspiration for her work from the beautiful area in which she lives...the Emerald Coast. Working in both oils and pastels she tries to capture the area’s beauty, paying attention to the light and it’s movement across the form, whether the dunes or a still life or the figure. The play of light creates beautiful abstract designs across these forms. A passion for painting ‘en plein air’ evolved out of her love of the outdoors merging with her love of art and painting. Her paintings come alive through painting on location and observing color and light. Melody is a member of the Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters, Women Painters of the Southeast, Oil Painters of America, The American Impressionist Society, Portrait Society of America, and member and past President of the Pastel Society of North Florida. She has studied with many contemporary greats such as Scott Christensen, David Leffel, Quang Ho, CW Mundy, Carolyn Anderson, Richard McKinley, Maggie Price, Albert Handel, and many others. Learning never stops for Melody and she tries to take workshops yearly with artists whose work she loves. Melody was the 2016 South Walton Artist of the Year.
