- Robert Kerr
VIEW GALLERY ART Robert Kerr I discovered painting several years ago while participating in an “activity” at a resort in Arizona. From the beginning, I loved the process of composition and the influences of color and value. My first inspirational artist was Erin Hanson who uses intense colors to create her Western landscapes. My favorite artists are the surrealists, impressionists and post-impressionists. I tend to enjoy using a variety of colors in my works. Seldom do I have more than a vague notion of what the final product will be. Having spent forty years practicing dentistry, details and discipline, although important for an artist, are not at the top of my list in deciding what to paint and how to paint it. More often than not my works evolve through intuition. Having recently moved to Miramar Beach, I have been inspired by the ever-present beauty of the area along with the peaceful and relaxed vibe, which has opened a new dimension of my art. I enjoy creating both representational and abstract works, most of which are intuited by the sights and sounds encountered daily. https://robertkerrfineart.com/
- Ridge Roberts
VIEW GALLERY ART Ridge Roberts Hailing originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Ridge underwent rigorous tutelage for five years under the esteemed Kathryn Manzo. During this time, he not only completed The Michelangelo Project and Visual Art Programs with distinction but also immersed himself in a rich artistic heritage, tracing its roots back to the teachings of Michelangelo himself. Through meticulous classical training and an enriching stint abroad in Loches, France, Ridge delved deeply into drawing, painting, and sculpture, ultimately discovering an abiding passion for the art of painting within the confines of the atelier. While pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business, Ridge experienced a profound realization that the small town lifestyle did not align with his true calling. Relocating to Santa Rosa Beach, he lent his talents to the marketing department at Live Well 30A, concurrently assuming a role as a property manager in Seaside. It was here that he embarked upon the creation of house portraits, marking the genesis of his artistic journey on the Emerald Coast. Notable among his early achievements in Santa Rosa Beach was the conception of his inaugural “Welcome to Blue Mountain Beach” mural at Blue Mountain Bakery, an endeavor that garnered widespread acclaim, particularly among vacationers who enthusiastically shared their experiences on social media platforms. Inspired by the resounding validation, Ridge resolved to devote himself wholeheartedly to the creation of murals and expansive canvas compositions. His portfolio since then encompasses diverse commissions, ranging from painted suits for CMT to iconic 30A home portraits and numerous album covers. Currently residing in Blue Mountain Beach as a full-time artist, Ridge finds solace and inspiration in his passion for travel, spending time on the beach, and music. His current endeavors include spearheading a monumental public art project for Walton County, alongside an array of prospective mural commissions that await his discerning brushstrokes. https://www.ridgerobertsart.com/
- CON-SCIOUS EXPRESSIONS | Cultural Arts Alliance
Con-Scious Expressions: An Insider's Perspective ENTER EXHIBIT When the project was announced to the men, they were asked to submit title ideas for the exhibition. Over 30 titles were submitted, and the one selected was by Michael George who states, “I chose this title because I truly believe that our prisons house many talented men and women. However, most of the media coverage of prisons and prisoners will never show that. Many of us are just broken individuals who made a poor choice in a moment of weakness. Our art creations are conscious expressions of our joy, pain, despair, and hope. The exhibit will hopefully give those who see it a glimpse of our humanity as well as an appreciation of our creativity.” “Con-scious Expressions: An Insider's Perspective” is what the CAA hopes will be the first of many exhibitions featuring work by incarcerated men and women in Walton County and the state of Florida. The CAA believes it is the inherent right of all human beings to have broad access to arts experiences. To support a full creative life for all, the CAA is committed to championing policies and practices that empower a just, inclusive, equitable community and nation. - Karen Williams
VIEW GALLERY ART Karen Williams My work is a constantly evolving journey for me. I started more representational and have gradually gone through a continuum of painting styles. I am constantly training, experimenting and continuing to refine my work. Although most of my paintings tend to take on a life of their own. I feel alive and connected when I paint, and I can express feelings that my words just can’t explain. I find inspiration to paint all around me. Growing up living on the water near bays, creeks and marshes gave me a love and appreciation for painting scenes with water. I love the ripples, the reflections, the bouncing light, and the surrounding trees. Trees are also near and dear to my heart. We lost most all our trees in 2018 when Hurricane Michael destroyed our town. This loss has affected more than I could ever imagine. I find myself painting with imaginary visions of trees surrounded by water or water surrounded by trees. I think this helps me recover from the loss we suffered, and to truly appreciate nature and our environment. It has been said, “Artists can find inspiration in things others pass by a thousand times.” I have learned it is just best to focus on the journey and the process of each painting and not the destination or the final outcome. In this way, I am honoring my creative spirit, my sense of curiosity and my need to explore and discover. I have learned to let go of my need to control, to be in charge. I can take risks, be vulnerable, mess up, cover up or paint over what’s not working. I strive to make paintings that are striking from a distance and rich with details and texture when viewed up close. I hope my viewers find moments of calmness and some energy, familiarity they can relate to, as well as joy and appreciation, and in the end make a connection with my art. Original art can be a timeless, special and meaningful piece to add to any home. It’s a one-of-a-kind treasure. Art has a way of transforming a house into a home, or a business into a warm friendly place. Art has the ability to express our emotions and feelings in a way that words simply can’t. https://www.karencwilliamsfineartstudio.com/
