- Anita Vasquez
VIEW GALLERY ART Anita Vasquez I have always been fascinated by glass. Church windows, vases, pottery glazes….anything with color and light has attracted me. I was a potter for many years and loved working with glazes and the kiln. Once I was exposed to fused glass though, something clicked for me and I had to know how to make it. I took my first class and was hooked. Since then, I have spent years making different kinds of things and always challenging myself. I’ve made dishes, pendant lights for homes and many decorative items. I have a studio in Fort Walton Beach where I teach classes along with my partner, Roseann Painter. As an artist I continue to love learning new techniques. One of my favorite sayings is from Eleanor Roosevelt; Do one thing everyday that scares you. Anytime I load the kiln, I try something new. I have been blessed to take classes from some experts who have helped me tremendously. I focus mainly on nature themes…the beach, butterflies and flowers. My husband who is an amazing carpenter helps me bring my visions to completion. https://www.paradiseglassworks.com/
- Elizabeth Miles
Elizabeth Miles I grew up on the Potomac River where it widens into the Chesapeake Bay, and this early immersion in water and woods remains a primary influence on the forms, colors, textures, and subject matter of my art. The spaces that exist between (between humans and nature, between stages of life, between an object and its observation, between life and death) hold particular interest to me. My work ranges from full room installations to small intimate pieces and often combines metals, wood, and found objects with glass. https://www.elizabethmilesart.com/ BACK TO EXHIBIT Button Button Button Button

- Mark Flynn | Cultural Arts Alliance
Mark Flynn played in the sand for years before taking it seriously. After winning a half dozen north Florida contests, Mark entered his first Masters level event in 1999 in St. Petersburg. The experience of carving alongside the best sand carvers in North America was enlightening, and he wasn’t last. His proudest result was the 2002 Judges’ Favorite trophy at Seal Beach, CA, where he headed up a small team of USC students, including his son Michael. Retiring from his “real” job in 2003, Mark spent most of that June carving for Sculpta on a big commercial project in Belgium. Afterwards, a decision had to be made: either sign up with Sculpta for a longer third summer or work independently in Florida. Hence, the birth of Sand Odyssey. Today, Mark Flynn spends most of his time at home in Northwest Florida’s Walton County doing specialized sand sculptures, sandcastle lessons, and sandcastle experiences for people both local and from around the world! - UNDERWATER MUSEUM OF ART | Cultural Arts Alliance
The Underwater Museum of Art The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) and support from the National Endowment for the Arts , the Alys Foundation , and Visit Florida joined two of South Walton, Florida’s most beloved attractions – the arts and the Gulf of Mexico – with the introduction of The Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) , North America’s first underwater permanent sculpture exhibit. Recently recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the top 100 “World’s Greatest Places “, The UMA is the first presentation of the CAA’s Art In Public Spaces Program and augments SWARA’s mission of creating marine habitat and expanding fishery populations while providing enhanced creative, cultural, economic and educational opportunities for the benefit, education and enjoyment of residents, students and visitors in South Walton. Currently, Gulf coastal waters off Walton County are 95% barren sand flats. Deployment of sculpture as artificial reefs will provide a source of biological replenishment and protective marine habitat where none exists. The UMA is deployed with SWARA’s existing USACOA and FDEP permitted artificial reef project that includes nine nearshore reefs located within one nautical mile of the shore in 60-feet of water. A one-acre permit patch of seabed off Grayton Beach State Park has been dedicated to the CAA for the purpose of a permanent underwater sculpture exhibit. The CAA and SWARA proudly revealed the seven sculpture designs selected by jury for permanent exhibition in the first installation of the UMA in December 2017. Those sculptures were deployed into the Gulf the following June, thus opening the first underwater sculpture park in the U.S. In August 2024, seven new designs joined the 40 previously deployed pieces in the sixth installation. - Melody Bogle
VIEW GALLERY ART Melody Bogle As a resident of South Walton Melody D. Bogle finds inspiration for her work from the beautiful area in which she lives...the Emerald Coast.
