- Anthony Heinz May
VIEW GALLERY ART Anthony Heinz May Enveloped by forests of the Pacific Northwest, the majority of my life was spent contemplating nature far away from the tumult of human activity. I developed deep fascination with creativity and artistic elements found within the natural environment. Emerging as a NYC artist amassed a much different experience than my birth (and presently residing) state of Oregon. My life has always been surrounded by art, as that is the lens through which I question reality. I grew up on meal tickets from the Oregon timber industry where my family worked across generations, including myself. Although I knew nothing of institutions, museums or galleries it was my interest in creating that allowed me experience art from a very early age. Within the past decade I have traveled to over 22 states and provinces across the continental US/Canada region to create more than 52 site-specific installations of art in natural, rural and urban areas. My studio is a mobile one; I work nomadically. My artistic path is less a route than a defunct timepiece or divining rod that symbolizes direction without actually offering one. What I find in travel between and since is a natural world in distress everywhere and all at once while challenged by a perversion of reality through artificial realms humans live/acquire life by.

- Mary Redmann | Cultural Arts Alliance
I work in a loose, fluid style consisting of numerous layers of media, creating pieces that are at once dreamy and captivating. Rock formations, the sky, ocean currents, and florals all play an important part in my pieces, albeit abstracted to allow a more free expression. For me, the process is very much about communicating energy through the combinations of colors, light, and shapes, while leaving the interpretation of that energy up to the viewer. - Rachel Herring | Cultural Arts Alliance
Spawned in 2010, Herring Design Co. was initially started for the creation of small print pieces, like invitations and stationery. Knowing she wanted to have a creative career, Rachel Herring took the leap of faith in 2012, leaving an office job to pursue Herring Design Co. full time. Rachel has been designing and creating for as long as she can remember. When she was little, she was never without a crayon or marker in her hand. Continuing through school, Rachel took all the art classes she could and created t-shirts and set designs for dances in high school. Knowing she wanted to major in a design field, Rachel graduated with a degree in Interior Design and another in Business Administration from Auburn University. While in school, she learned how to use Adobe Creative Suite, and it ignited a desire to do graphic design. Rachel moved to Birmingham for an internship and remained there after graduation. Still having a major interest in graphic design, she started Herring Design Co. to design custom invitations for people. The business grew by word of mouth, and so did the products she offered. Rachel has always loved working with her hands, so after a kitchen renovation, she had leftover wood that she knew couldn't go to waste. Her first string art creations were made from these pieces. Shortly after, she grew her tool collection, and set her mind to having a career as an artist. Business grew quickly after sharing these pieces, and in addition to art shows, she got her artwork into stores in the area. After seven years in Birmingham, AL, Rachel moved to Santa Rosa Beach, FL. The surroundings at the beach have influenced the subject matter of her artwork from the beautiful blues and greens from the Emerald Coast waters to the spectacular sunsets.
