The Visual Arts Program of the CAA is dedicated to supporting artists, fostering creativity, and bringing high-quality visual art experiences to the community. Through evolving initiatives and outreach, the program continues to provide exhibition opportunities, artist support, and engaging art experiences across multiple locations.

THE HISTORY OF FOSTER GALLERY

The Foster Gallery was established by the CAA in 2016 as a space to showcase the work of local and regional artists. Named in honor of CAA founder, artist and educator Susan Foster, the gallery quickly became a beloved venue for art exhibitions, workshops, and community engagement. Over the years, the gallery has provided an essential platform for both emerging and established artists, creating opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work while engaging with the public.

AN EVOLVING OUTREACH PROGRAM

Recognizing the need to expand its reach beyond a single location, the CAA has transformed The Foster Gallery into a Visual Arts Outreach Program that brings art into the heart of the community. This initiative allows artists to display and sell their work in multiple locations throughout Walton County, making art more accessible to diverse audiences.

Current exhibition locations include:

  • Coastal Branch Library

  • Freeport Library

  • Point Washington Medical Clinic (PWMC)

  • Emerald Coast Theatre Company

Through this expanded model, the Visual Arts Program continues to support artists while enhancing public spaces with vibrant, thought-provoking artwork. Each location offers a unique environment where visitors can engage with art in new and meaningful ways. From solo showcases to group exhibitions, our curated selection of works offer a dynamic mix of perspectives and mediums that reflect the rich tapestry of human experience. Each rotation brings new styles, and voices demonstrating the diversity and fresh perspectives of our regional creative community.

SUPPORTING ARTISTS & ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY

The CAA remains committed to its mission of fostering artistic growth by providing opportunities for artists to showcase their work. Regular artist calls and juried exhibitions ensure that a diverse array of talent is featured throughout the year. By integrating visual arts into public spaces, the program not only benefits local artists but also enriches the cultural fabric of Walton County.

THE FUTURE OF VISUAL ARTS IN WALTON COUNTY

As the CAA continues to evolve, the Visual Arts Program will seek new partnerships and innovative ways to connect artists with the community. By expanding exhibition opportunities and supporting artists through outreach programs, the CAA ensures that visual arts remain an integral part of Walton County’s creative landscape.
